About Fré Van Oers

Spread the love

Welcome on my personal blog. I’m Fré, I’m in my mid-thirties and living in Antwerp, Belgium.

I blog about things that interest me. Amongst others you can find posts about hiking/the outdoors, linocutting, technology, barbecue (specifically the public barbecue spots in the city of Antwerp), timelapse videos (mostly sunrises and sunsets), Nepal and South Africa.

Those two countries deserve a little extra explanation:

  • I lived in South Africa for a year in 2007 and the blog was a way of keeping in touch with my family at home.
  • Nepal has a special place in my heart. It all started with a friend of mine getting married to a Nepalese man. I went to the wedding in Nepal and afterwards got involved in the organisation they started called HANDnepal. We focus on digital education in Nepal. We have installed computer labs in 11 schools and are starting a community centre in one of those schools. I’ve been to Nepal three times so far: the first time for a double wedding, the second time to install 10 computer labs and the third time to help clearing the rubble in a school after the 2015 earthquake. I hope to return soon.
